Today I want to share 3 reasons why I love The Sonnenalp and why it’s worth considering for your wedding venue or reception space. The Sonnenalp in Vail will forever be one of my favorite venues because of its special tie-ins for me. You can read a little bit more about that here. But today, I wanted to point out three practical reasons that make couples satisfied with their decision to either have all or part of their wedding at this special Colorado venue.
1.The Glass Terrace is perfect for your wedding day.
Colorado weather can be unpredictable (in 2019 it snowed several inches in Vail on June 21st.) The Sonnenalp’s glass terrace, with its retractable roof, is perfect for receptions and ceremonies. If the weather is nice, the roof opens to allow the crisp mountain air in. If the weather is a little finicky, the roof can stay closed. The best part is you won’t feel claustrophobic because it’s a glass structure and nature can still be a prominent feature to your day. It truly is a photographer’s dream of natural light in all weather conditions.
2. You are minutes from everything when you stay at the Sonnenalp.
If it has always been your vision to get married in a church, the beautiful white Interfaith Chapel is right across the street from The Sonnenalp and is the perfect place to say I do. If you want pictures where you’ll feel on top of the world, you’re minutes away from a quick ride on Gondola One with epic sweeping views. The view of the Gore Range is accessible by a 10 minute drive that can include pictures in aspens and even Vail Village has its own charm that can play a prevalent part in your wedding day story.
3. Spacious rooms that create the best getting ready photos.
Sonnenalp’s Bavarian design is clean and crisp and free from unnecessary clutter. They tout a reputation for fine European hospitality and superior guest service that I have personally witnessed. Sonnenalp also has various offerings of rooms that are large and provide ample room for your bridal party to get ready with you. These spaces ensure that your photographer is able to photograph beautiful candids of you getting ready free of distracting clutter. You also don’t have to worry about the furniture or interiors. In other words, you won’t be “dating” your photos since they tout a traditional and classic Bavarian style.
I personally love the Sonnenalp and I’m always thrilled to document weddings in the beautiful town of Vail and at The Sonnenalp. In addition, as you start your journey of planning your wedding there are three planners that I want to recommend. They all have extensive backgrounds in planning weddings at The Sonnenalp are listed below. I have personally worked with each of them and they are no strangers to Vail and to The Sonnenalp. Each comes with 5 star reviews and would make your wedding day a complete success.
